Canyonlands National Park

A mesa in the distance. The river had really cut deep in this park of the canyon....
The Green River running thru Canyonlands. Just below here is where the Green and Colorado Rivers meet at Confluence.

Spires in the canyon.

The smog is smoke from the fires in Salt Lake City.

Arches National Park, Moab Utah

This is called Double O arch - we hiked to this and climbed quite a way up, but could not quite make the last several feet - too scary!
This is us at Pine Tree Arch.

Landscape Arch - we hike about 1 mile to this arch. Several years ago a large piece broke off the bottom of this arch and it is very thin now.

And this arch is called Tunnel Arch. Are we giving you enough arches?? It is truly a beautiful park to visit, we spent 2 days here hiking and touring and enjoyed each minute of it.

Bryce National Park

A walk thru a beautiful canyon. We started at over 8,000 ft. elevation and hiked down into the canyon about 350 feet.
It was so awesome being a part of the canyon. It made one feel very small but still so very peaceful.

Mel on our start down into the canyon. We hiked to Queen's Garden and it was wonderful to be in the canyon and hiking in the hoodoo's.

A great view of Bryce Canyon.

Zion National Park

So many beautiful pictures to post but it takes a long time to download, so these are a few from Zion.
Court of the Patriarch's - Abraham, Issac & Jacob.

Will try to send some via picassa albums at later date.

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary

These are the octogans for the dogs at Best Friends. They have an indoor area with a cot and a large outdoor area for play. We visited/played with 7 dogs and had a great time. And, no, I did not tuck one in the truck although Beauregard was close!
This is the main building at DogTown and also the clinic. There is also an area for cats, pigs, horses, birds, rabbits and a rehab area for wild birds. We also helped socialize the puppies and work with them on leash training. So cute!!

This is the welcome center of Best Friends in Angel Canyon, Kanab, Utah. Such a great place, we have been members for many, many years. We took the day to volunteer here at Dogtown.

At my friend Lynn's outside of Reno, Nevada

Horses grazing in the pasture. Such a fun, pretty and totally enjoyable time we shared with Lynn - we have been friends since 6th grade.
Mel had fun with this horse:)

Lynn, Liz and her horse and Angela. Great group of people and we so enjoyed our time with them.

Lynn, Pat on Baron - he was 17.3 hands and I just hoped that I didn't fall off him -long way down, and Mel.

Crater Lake

Phanton Ship at Crater Lake.
Another shot of Crater Lake and I forget the name of this island.

Newport, Oregon

The coast at Newport Oregon.
And the lighthouse - so pretty.

San Juan Island area

The Columbia river gorge.
Space Needle as we drive thru Seattle.

Flora at a lake, I forget the name, on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands.

View from observation tower on Orcas Island - we really like this island.

View of Anacortes harbor.

On the state park in Anacortes, Washington

Artist's Point in the northern Cascades, Washington

Mt. Baker with alpenglow but it doesn't show up well here. So pretty here.
Mt. Shukshun at Artist Point - Bonz favorite mountain and we were so glad she suggested that we stop here. It was a beautiful place, we stayed at Crystal Lake, Horse Camp and it was a great campground , but the horses didn't start coming in until we were leaving(:

Here we are in the snow - the malamutes really like this, what a surprise!

This little husky is Issaquah -- since Bonz would not let me take her real, live Issaquah she gave me this stuffy and since she and Dave got married at Artist's Point I had to take the stuffy out and take her picture:)

Haines, trip to Skagway and driving

Bison on the Alcan and then came the big guy....
and he had branches stuck on his horn, but we didn't offer to help take them off!

A picture at the top of the mountain on the road up from Skagway.

Our ferry from Haines to Skagway. Fun, fun trip until we got to Skagway at 9:30pm and had a problem at our campground. No one there, no lights, no campsite number left for us - luckily the manager did answer his phone and told us what site, so Mel had to back the camper in in the pitch dark except for my small headlamp. He did good!

Chilkoot Falls on Chilkoot Lake in Haines.

Salmon spawning in Chilkoot Lake.

Chilkoot Lake just outside of Haines. What a pretty lake!

"Dawson City" the set for White Fang. This is located at the Fairgrounds in Haines. Great little brew pub here and a few other shops.

Haines brown bears(grizzly) and eagles

How proud is this eagle. There were so many eagles in Haines.
The cub following mama up into the woods.

Coming up out of the river in Haines.

Haines Alaska - my favorite place in Alaska

A proud cub with his catch.
Mom was teaching the cubs to catch the salmon at the weir. The weir was an area where they funneled the salmon through an opening for counting and sorting as far as type of salmon and mama bear thought this was a great place to fish.

We didn't see too many totem poles but this one was in Ft. Seward in Haines.

A fishing building on the Haines harbor area. Just too cool!

Haines harbor area - so pretty!

Mama griz and one of her cubs. Good thing they were going the other way.

One of the mountains on the way to Haines - the drive from Haines Junction to Haines is just so beautiful, my favorite.
